how to lean into the 4 seasons of life to tap into wealth
How to lean into the 4 seasons of life for creating wealth.
You know, it takes time to settle into a new rhythm, a new home, a new state, a new country, a new business, new team members, new everything.
And yet we put so much pressure on ourselves to have it all worked out in a flash.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
We have been in Bali now for 7 months and just starting to find our groove and the thought of leaving this island in the next couple of months, seems too soon.
And it made me realise and drop into the seasons we go through in life.
The seasons that come and go.
The seasons that are ever so present when we embark on new adventures (be it a new country, relationship, business, new child etc…).
And how when we lean into the phases, recognise them and be with them; we can grow more success than we ever realised.
Let’s dive into the 4 phases and how they play out in our every day personal and business life:
Phase 1
The honeymoon phase; you know, where everything is hunky-dory and everything is just glorious!! We tend to wear our rose coloured glasses on and feel like everything will be high flying forever (us humans are funny like that).
This phase is often marked by a sense of excitement and anticipation as dreams and plans come to fruition. People in this stage often capitalise on opportunities and take bigger risks than they usually would. This phase can be incredibly rewarding, but it is important to remember that it will not last forever.
Phase 2
The frustration phase; is the complete opposite to the honeymoon. You want to give up, everything feels hard and you are wondering why the hell you even decided to do this (the balance of the highs and lows).
Things often become more challenging and the work required to maintain the status quo increases. It's during this stage that people must put in extra effort and make sacrifices in order to maintain what it is they have created.
There are often obstacles or setbacks that must be overcome to stay on track and reach the desired goals. And this is where most people give up because the light is no longer there.
We want everything to be easy and when reality sets in, we tend to have a wee tantrum…because honeymoon is always much easier and perceived as “better”.
Phase 3
The balance phase; this is where you feel both incredibly high and incredibly low at the same time, about all the things. It is when you are finding your feet and begin to feel comfortable with the decisions you’ve made. And just when you were settling into it all, something blindsides you and you wonder how and why you are here again…this is life - welcome!
Balance is found in everything we do and are a part of. Night and day, cold and hot, happy and sad, birth and death. When we start to accept the polarities of life and that voids are continually created for us, life becomes less chaotic and more charming.
Phase 4
The tweaking phase; this would have to be my favourite phase! This is where you land and ground yourself. The fantasy and nightmare have been equalised and you have accepted that this is life, that this is the everyday. The tweaking is the necessary evil in life and coasting along is not real or something that anyone has forever. The mountains of emotions are part of living and being a human. Once you embrace everything that is being a human, the highs and lows are less impactful to your everyday life.
How do these seasons apply to my living in Bali and building wealth?
Well, firstly the financial and emotional investment of moving overseas is real. And I feel that the first year is made up these 4 seasons. It’s not until 10-12 months, that you really settle in and feel really at home. For me, I felt that we would be leaving too early to make the most of the investments we made to date. Leaning into the discomforts (and there have been many here) and knowing that it is part of the process, is allowing me to embrace the polarities and the investments we have made to create a life here.
Secondly, this analogy of moving internationally applies to creating wealth. We want it right now and the truth is that it takes years to create true wealth.
Wealth that is long lasting is true wealth.
Making high income is just that; high income.
The last 18 years has proven to me that riding the phases of life is key to being successful. When you can observe and accept that you are in a particular phase, there is less resistance and life becomes calmer.
Being in this energy (calm) is another key to inviting and creating wealth.
I know all too well that chaos attracts chaos (that was my mode of operandi for too many years and I was the ultimate shit magnet).
I’d love to know, what phase of life are you in right now personally and professionally? At a wild guess, I’d say that you are in different phases for both and that is perfectly okay!
Enjoy this wild ride
